Vauxhall astra 2017

Options
Hi
I have a 2017 astra elite and sometimes when I take my key it the radio doesn't turn off as it should and I can't lock the car. I have to fiddle around with it in the ignition until it registers the key is no longer in.
I'm not sure on what needs to be done or any 'cheap fixes'
Cheers

This should probably be posted in the Motoring section.

It is great to see a non-computer or non-mobile phone technical question on this forum.  When did technical = only computers and mobile phones?  There are lots of technical things that have nothing to either of them.  Lawn mowers, radios, electrical generators, bicycles, Christmas tree lights, sun lamps, desk lamps, tape recorders, vinyl record deck, etc, etc.

Rant over.   You probably should try the motoring forum!

I was just thinking about this the other day. The Motoring section says "A special section for all things cars and motoring", which I thought was obvious from the title! The Tech section doesn't give any clue as to what is meant by "tech". If you have a problem with your internet connected fridge and you can't talk to it from your, phone do you post in the "tech" section, the "in my home" section or the "phone" section? Whatever you do, don't post in all three or you'll incur the wrath of forum police.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

The problem with asking this sort of question in the motoring section is that all you will get is a million reasons why you should not have bought a particular brand/model of car, most of which will be based on something they heard from a bloke in the pub.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

It looks like something in the ignition lock is sticking and not releasing when you take the key out.  With such a newish car I am reluctant to suggest a fix.  You could try searching on a Vauxhall owners forum if there is one.

OP has already done that ,..duplicate thread on the Motoring forum at 09.06am this morning.  :D

It’s certainly not the done thing but duplicate threads can occasionally be quite interesting due to their diverse replies. :o

No idea about particular car, but does the key fob have some sort of sensor? Maybe unless you get a better answer try replacing the battery in the key fob as a quick check?

I’d second that,...for this and any future problems.

My son has used those specialist Vauxhall/Astra forums for the last 9 years and received some excellent help. Plenty Vauxhall gurus on those forums, both amateur and professional.

The 'man in the pub' is very knowledgeable, you know, especially after his 4th pint!!!
