Kitchen porcelain tiles and splashbacks

We had a new kitchen installed last year (a long journey due to being ordered 2 weeks before lockdown in March and eventually being installed in September and then finally tiler in December!) but we are starting to think we need a splashback behind the cooker to protect the porcelain tiles from cooking splashes.  We are not DIY handy at all so wondered if anyone knew where we can buy a clear glass splashback who would also install it?  Preferably clear as we have nice tiles we don't want to hide, but it is textured and not smooth. Looked at some videos but not convinced we want to risk trying it ourselves.

The tiles are the splash-back to protect the walls from the splashes.  Porcelain tiles shouldn't need protecting.

A glass splash-back over it isn't going to help with anything that is textured as you'll end up with all manner of grease, detritus and dead insects behind it.  🤢

As DG writes, your tiles should be fine.

If you want some protection, buy a large clear glass or decorative glass chopping board and put that behind the hob when it is in use and keep it in a drawer when not in use.

Buy two if you can't find one big enough.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Thanks, I hadnt considered that the tiles do not need protecting.  I had noticed a few splashes that didnt seem easy to clean off  due to not being the flat type of tile and was worried that they will stain easily hence why I was looking at a clear splashback to put on.

"textured and not smooth" - is this the porcelain?
If so, the tiles, despite not needing any protection, are still more difficult to clean than smooth ones or glass. Wrong choice for a kitchen IMHO.

Yes I was referring to the tiles re the description.  I did look up if porcelain was suitable for kitchens and many websites said yes and so we thought it was ok to go ahead.  NOt exactly something we have experience with.
  • Hi Shelle,
I have porcelain tiles above my hob - when I clean them I simply get some steam going (boil a pan or a kettle on the back burners) and that help dislodge any cooking detritus etc - occasion diluted bleach over the grouting with an old toothbrush and they still look ace!
