What about comping. If you like to stay in on these winter nights and can go on the pc, you can join the many members on here entering and winning some fabulous prizes. Just look at the competition section on here to start. You can either just enter the pot luck comps or specialise in tiebrakers where you have to use your skill. I have won many holidays with tiebrakers . Comping is great fun and a good way to pass your time and you have the added bonus of never knowing when that winning call or email will come with the good news you have won a prize. Sprinkling some magic your wayto wish you good luck if you decide to join us.Competitions wins 2010

I make jewellery - not as hard as you might think - and you can sit and do it in front of the telly.
You don't need any special know-how - just google "how to make..... " and you'll find all the info for free on the internet. You can buy all the components (collectively called findings - earwires, pins etc) and beads in small quantities on ebay. You also need a set of small tools - pliers, cutters etc but don't pay for the proper jeweller's tools as they cost a fortune - you can get a set from any place that supplies electricians or plumbers and you'll only pay about £3.00 for a set of about 5 tools.
Just grab yourself a cheap laptray, some materials and you're off. You can make some very cheap unique presents for all your female friends and relatives. I started out making earrings with glass beads and now I make some fab one-off pieces with semi-precious stones and my hubby sells them on the market. I even got my hubby into it and he "wraps" pendants which sell for a decent profit.
Once you start you'll soon be hooked.0 -
Photography? Easy to start with a cheap digital camera, taking photos around the house and garden and local park. Then you can get a SLR digital camera, or a real film camera and learn to develop yourself. Also a good start for art.

+1 photography.
Yes you can do all that on a PC. You can download Picassa for free. It allows basic image correction and manipulation.
I'm doing an AS in photography and its great. Its a reason to get out and take photos and I have access to B&W darkroom equip too. Hope to get a qualification out of it. There's an academic background to it all but that part doesn't seem to feel like work (too much).
I've gone down the 35mm B&W film route. Sold a bunch of stuff on ebay and bought all the kit. A new digi camera like the Finepix S5700 should be OK and is about £102 on Amazon at the mo.
The BBC recently just laid on a whole series, 6 hours of programming just for me. Bargain!

How about making your own cards>
Places like Poundland and Bookseller etc have kits that you can start with for just a few pounds.
I have some wool to start knitting scarves but never get off the computer long enough to knit!"This site is addictive!"
