Faulty gift card

I reported a gift card to amazon as I couldnt redeem it. Their fraud dept got in touch saying they could resolve it for me but I needed proof of purchase. The person who bought it for me didn't keep their receipt.
What are my rights?
Any advice appreciated. Someone spent money on a card from a supermarket believing it to be genuine so it seems a shame for it to be wasted.

Could have just picked it up off the shelf and not added any money on to it. They need some proof that money was paid onto it.Jo_C said:I reported a gift card to amazon as I couldnt redeem it. Would the loading receipt you got with it not do? This is the extra bit that says how much they put on, I always get those with such cards.

If it was given as a gift to you, you don't have any rights. The person who bought it does.2

This. You need to ask the gift giver to sort it out because Amazon don't have any obligation to assist you. If they don't have the receipt or some other form of proof of purchase (of the credit that was allegedly loaded onto it), I doubt they'll get anywhere.davidmcn said:If it was given as a gift to you, you don't have any rights.
