Are we be covered?

Hi, I am not sure what to do next?  The problem is, we had booked a cruise in March 2020 and we now realise our cruise travel insurance had run out in Jan 2020 which is before we booked as evidently the insurance company do not automatically renew the policy, it was also necessary to move the date of this holiday to June 2021 due to Covid19 and because of a longer duration further sum is due 25 February 21
We have now booked another cruise in October 2021 quite forgetting that we still had no insurance in place, so is it best to renew a few weeks before the sailing date? and once new insurance has been purchased will these two cruises be insured if we have to cancel because of medical reasons?
Any explanation on this will be most welcome, regards Robert

Take out insurance as soon as possible. If any medical conditions occur between now and whenever you were intending taking out insurance they won’t be covered if you don’t already have insurance in place.
I nearly got caught by this. Having decided to delay starting an annual policy until just before a short break, a routine appointment let to a doctor saying “let’s run some tests to be sure”. No insurer will cover you while you are awaiting tests.

Definitely buy it now but read the fine print to see what is and isn't covered.

Ensure that cruises are covered as many travel insurance policies specifically exclude them.
  • Hi guys, Many thanks for the quick response, Yes Neil most travel insurance has a separate cruise cover addition to the policy you have to request it, and now I see what you mean by "if any medical conditions occur" that is a good tip about "Tests" so I had better get looking, regards Robert
