I put in an offer on a house which was verbally accepted on the 14th Dec and my solicitor sent the written offer same day, with a proposed entry date in early feb, but I have not got qualified acceptance yet. I'm pretty on edge because when I sold my previous home last month my conveyancer kept telling me that everything was fine, she had no outstanding work on my file and there was nothing I needed to do which all turned out to be bare faced lies. This time I want to make sure that I am doing everything I can to keep things on track, preferably without driving my new solicitor up the wall.
We are only a month away from the proposed entry date, should I be worried about the lack of progress and is there anything I should be doing at this point? My broker is expecting my mortgage offer next week and I have signed/returned all the paperwork my solicitor sent me.

Up here it's the solicitor who does the majority of the work, with minimal involvement from you.
We've had Christmas, New Year and there's an additional day off tomorrow, therefore firms haven't really been open aside from the week after your offer went in.
Contact your solicitor on Tuesday and ask them to follow up for you.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
I'lI need to contact my solicitor on Tuesday anyway to find out if my documents made it through the post so I will definitely ask her to find out what the delay is. I guess I should look at other properties since we havnt started formal negotiations yet and theres no way to know if the sellers are serious

I'm not convinced that's much of a "delay" really, it's only about one normal working week since the offer. The sellers need to go through the offer with their solicitor, their solicitor might not already have the titles to hand, etc. Sounds like normal timescales to me.1
