New business grants - peoples opinions

Options
Hi,
Hope everyone had a good New Year
I would like to ask peoples opinions on business grants, what the choice are and if they would themselves go down this route as I have had some stories that it is a waste of time due to the current climate.
Thanks in advance for your answers
M

That is a very broad question and the grants available depend very much on your own circumstances and the proposed business.  If you can set out more detail and whether there are any specific grants you had in consideration that will help people provide useful advice.

Grants for business are very often hard to come by. Depending on what you are planning and if it is in a targeted sector, it may be possible to get some form of marketing support, however for most, this is unlikely, and is highly likely to be target based.

The Startup Loans scheme may be more what you are looking for, however you will need to have a well developed business plan with full financial statements to get this.

You can google this, there's quite a lot of info online. But then again, there are quite specific requirements for different kinds of grants. It all depends on individual circumstances. For example, some people on benefits are able to have grants to start up businesses. There's a link here - https://www.lepnetwork.net/local-growth-hub-contacts/
and that link also contains a link to the UK government site.
There's some info on the Princes Trust here too, if you're young enough : https://www.princes-trust.org.uk/help-for-young-people/who-else/employment/grants-funding

But most places will need you to have a comprehensive business plan to present, since no-one will just give money to applicants without knowing what it's going to fund. And, of course, there's likely to be competition for financial support. It doesn't hurt to look around, though. Look on the internet, always lots of info on there.
