An eBay sniper that snipes from eBay UK (not Goofbid) so I earn Nectar points.

I was using Goodbid to snipe eBay actions but it stopped working so I switched to BidNapper (which I really like) however just before Christmas I found out it places bids from eBay . com which means I don't earn Nectar points and as I buy a lot of items from eBay for my business I recon this is costing me over £100 a year.

Bids are failing because eBay recognises that Goofbid is not me however the frustrating thing is eBay has an authentication service -which BidNapper uses- that would stop eBay from blocking Goofbids log in/snipe attempts.

So is there a reliable sniper (it does not need to be free) that will let me place bids from eBay UK?

I have never understood sniping (this is a genuine question) - as I understand it, you tell the sniping program your max bid and it bids up to that amount in the final seconds of the auction.

Why don't you just enter that max bid as a normal bid - the end result is the same?

The snipper prevents people being able to "retaliate". So if I placed a max bid of £50 with 1 day left to go someone can enter a bid of £40, be out bided then retaliate with a £55 bid. If I bid in the last few seconds after they placed a £40 bid my £50 would win me the auction.

But if your max bid was £50 and someone else puts there’s as £60, they win still.

I used Baytomat.com via my iPhone. It has been very reliable for me.

They would. But it stops them from entering £50, being out bided then upping their bid to £60.

Thanks. Can I place a bid via eBay UK if I use the site as supposed to bidding on an item via eBay.com?

I don't know for absolutely certainty as I have never used it to buy an item from the USA, but it uses my eBay UK account. I use it by browsing eBay.co.uk on my laptop, Watching items I want to bid on, and import those items into the Baytomat application on my iphone to snipe them. I don't see why this wouldn't work if the watched item was listed on eBay.com but available in eBay.co.uk.

Sniping does work, but works on psychology.

If someone already has a £60 bid and you're going to snipe £50 then yes, you will always lose.

The benefit of sniping is that if someone has bid £40 and you bid £50, but with a day still to go, they other bidder will be notified that they have been outbid, and the problem is that they have a whole day to re-consider if they want to lose the item or bid more.

The result is that if they then decide to up their bid to, say, £45 or £50 in that remaining day, you will still win, but will have to pay more. If they bid more than £50 you will lose the item unless you up your maximum too.

Sniping allows your bid to go in just before the auction close preventing the other bidder from being informed and then subsequently re-considering their bid, giving you a better chance of getting the item at a lower price.

I've used Gixen.net for a couple of years now, but not 100% certain if I get the Nectar points on my items. I think it costs me about £6 a year & is very reliable.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
