Safest way to sell an IPhone (so I don’t get scammed)?

Hi all
After getting a new iPhone I now have an iPhone 8 for sale. It is in fantastic condition so I thought I’d sell it on EBay until my mate told me “If you sell it on EBay there’s a chance the buyer could receive it and remove internal parts/change internal parts and claim that the phone was faulty”. So, the other week I took it to CEX shop and they went over it like a forensic scientist and discovered a hairline scratch to the front glass they said makes the phone condition as good/poor which is absolutely ridiculous. They offered a stupid amount. So, given that this phone is in great condition (apart from the tiniest of tiny scratches) how can I sell it to make sure I get a fair price and don’t get ripped off?

I’d stick with gumtree and Facebook marketplace and only sell as cash on collection.0

If you want risk free then take CEXs offer, they pay , you leave with the money, end of any problems.Brian_Pamo said:Hi all

I’m doing terribly well on Facebook marketplace at the moment , but you will get silly offers and people messing you around, if you have the patience then that might be the way forward.
Wherever you sell take into account the condition report from CEX, something is not in fantastic condition if it has a hairline crack, so make sure you mention that and price accordingly otherwise you might get either someone turning up at your house to buy and getting into an argument with you , or someone afterwards getting funny and wanting to return it. This is because many phone buyers on marketplace are resellers themselves, so will tidy up the phone, possibly even re box it and sell it on for more.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I sell almost everything on eBay except (valuable) mobile phones.
My last phone I traded in using the Argos trade in service as I had recently bought an iPad from them which entitled me to an extra £50 on top of the trade-in value which worked out at the same price they were selling for on eBay for, but with none of the risk of comeback.
The previous phone I gave to my mum to replace her older model.
If I had to sell another I would probably go the music magpie or CEX route (especially if I wanted something CEX sells, then I would exchange for store credit to get a bit more value), as once the deal is done they have no comeback with silly reasons.
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -
Thanks all
Just sold it via Music Magpie. I have to say... The process was very easy & straightforward.1
