This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all.
Cold but bright today. I've just put the heating on for an extra hour but will then rouse myself and go out to the shops as we need some fresh food and milk for the coming week. I want to try and cut back on my visits for food shopping but it's hard to decide what we want to eat for the next week. I can manage about 3 days worth but then I get bored with it.
Today I will make a crumble and have it with custard - the best way to eat crumble! My freezer inventory reminded me that I have some uncooked rhubarb in there from back in June; it came from a friends garden so should be lovely.
Other than that I will be watching the rugby on tv this afternoon and doing my knitting - go me!
Have a good day everyone and watch out for that snow.13 -
Morning All
Cold and bright this morning, hoping for some more sunshine, it's been lovely to have so much light during these long winter months.
DGC still here, eating me out of house and home and keeping me fit. Who knew a walk to the bottle bank could be so enjoyable?! I think DS1 is coming today but may stay until tomorrow when it will be very peaceful again (but I'll miss them terribly).
Washing on this morning, may put it outside when the sun comes round. Apart from that I'll just be running round after the DGC trying to keep some sort of order!
Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX15 -
Morning all..Cold but not as cold as it has been. We let the fire go out last night because it was just too warm but checking the weather shows a high of one degree today. I can see me lighting it in another couple of hours..No plans today, just a vague idea I might do something like tidy up or scrub the kitchen to within an inch of it's life and make a ham and leek pie, some normal food for a change with some real life vegetables. And the sauce will be cheesy since I have enough to start my own shop. The number of infections are crashing upwards here so I'm not going anywhere but to be honest, the only thing I might need is milk and we have uht which will do for now until the milkman is back off holiday. Making some food out of leftovers will cerainly make the kitchen look a bit better, right now, it's a bitty food paradise. So staying in and finding something to occupy myself gainfully instead of flitting over the internet is the action plan today. There's washing to do and I've found a nice stitch I may actually to be able to do for the crochet blanket, not as difficult as the waffle for a total beginner, I'm going with Jacobs Ladder instead. I hope. And tru, we're six episodes in now and it's enjoyable.tospy, hope you're comfortable. Stay safe everyone.

Morning everyone. We have more snow which was a bit of a surprise. DGSs will be delighted. Temperatures are so cold but I’d much rather this than the rainy weather.DH will go out for some shopping this morning, just a few bits and pieces needed. I think we’ll start the farm shop veg box again although the prices of veg in Lidll etc are so good. Trying to balance out reasonable spends but also support local.I’ve been doing some clearing out over the last few days, just bits here and there. Out of date food from cupboard was chucked - things like spices and v old herbal teabags, also some things from the wardrobe including old shoes and today a couple of jackets are heading to the clothes recycling bin at Tesc0 if there is room.Looks like nice weather for a walk. I met DD and DGSs for a while in the park yesterday. It made my heart glad to see them running about in the remains of the icy snow and seeing their red little cheeks
Keep cosy folks and hope you can have as good a day as possible x13 -

Good morning, hard frost and sunny here in The Marches first thing, but has gone overcast now. Bestie who lives 30 miles away said it had started snowing there - no thank you don't want it here.
Ate bits and bobs yesterday, Christmas cake, sweeties and biscuits are always rationed through January, neither of us are overweight and want to keep it that way. May make a curry today, turkey of course lol, at the beginning of Lockdown 1 I signed up for an on-line Curry Club, approx 2 live tutorials each month via FB and all spices are supplied by our teacher. Homestyle Indian food, not restaurant and taught to adapt the heat/spiciness to our individual taste, it is the best thing that I did all year and kept me interested and motivated through the long months of shielding.
Rats -just looked out of the window, it is snowing steadily here now! Oh well cup of tea and shortbread biccie calling.
Have the best day possible, hugs and spoons to those who are poorly, sad or weighed down with life stuff.

Hello all, it's a bright sunny day here but still very cold, never mind we're not going anywhere. Didn't get on here yesterday, ( seems I had a hangover from Nelski's party
) so I'll wish you a Happy New Year today,
We had a lovely day with Dad yesterday and he went home with lots of food again. Between xmas and new year I think I've filled his freezer with home cooked meals ! My freezer however looks depleted and in need of sorting, but that's a task for another day as nothing is planned for today except sitting my derriere on the sofa. There is plenty of food in the fridge for picking and also some bacon that needs eating up, so maybe bacon and eggs or just a bacon sarnie later. My tummy will be happy to see some plain food........ as will my weight, I feel I've put on loads ! I'll have to steel myself to get on the scales some time this week, it'll probably groan " one at a time please !! "A big hello and welcome to all the new posters, I'm looking forward to getting to "know" you.Take care all, stay safe and keep well. Hugs to anyone in need as always.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here and still no snow I would love just a covering our pup loves the snow and dd's pup has never seen it so would love to take her out in it.
The decs did not come down yesterday as OH wanted them up a bit longer to keep christmas alive, bless him they can stay up till tomorrow and then come down as they are all back at work next week and I could not manage it alone.
We need some shopping today or tomorrow so im hoping OH will go, I really dont fancy a trip around the shops, I did nothing much yesterday, I had my shower and hairwash and was shattered afterwards so lay on the bed watching Netflix, I do have to be a bit easier on myself I think as its still early days, will try for a walk later though.
Might do a spag bol for dinner tonight nice and easy and 'normal' food there is only so much Christmas food one can eat !! We had a steak last night with a stilton stuffed mushroom and chips, I ate 3/4 of the steak and the mushroom and a few chips, it was very tasty, my appetite is not what it was which is not a bad thing, I could do with losing a few pounds !!
Topsy I hope you are feeling not too bad, sending hugs to you xxx
Bella thinking of you xx
Have good days all xx

Morning again -- I've been up and out to the shops. The car needed de-icing again although it didn't take too long this time. The shops were very quiet so I was able to whizz round. I wanted to get my tyre pressures checked as the warning light came on again but every garage was closed, it's a bank holiday today, so it will have to wait. It's the second time in recent weeks so I think I have a slow puncture, it's not been a good time for me with tyres. Four new ones in October time, a slashed tyre which needed replacing in November and now this! Grrr.I took recycling bag and glass to the tip as all the nearby on-street dumpsters were full and overflowing, the tip was very quiet and had empty dumpsters.Later I have to organise things for DM's visitor, he's a real cake gannet.
I'll not be going anywhere now, may indulge myself and watch Dr Who again, the Daleks still really worry me. I've got a few model Daleks around the place, one I made at school (which is even more weird) and one I bought on Orkney - there's a place there called Harray so inevitably the business is called 'Harray Potter' - clever marketing!
Keep safe and warm everyone.11
