Hi Everyone
I have been just informed that my dad passed away 6 years and his new wife never told me! We felt out 6.5 years ago and i assumed he was still been moody about it. He lived in spain for past 20 years had property and assets and was a spanish resident. Bothered me all night why she didnt tell me then I looked up inheritance laws for spain and it states that children get 2/3 rds of estate under spains succession laws! Now it makes sense why she never told me! However she apparently has inherited all this stuff, property cash, pension the lot??. He died without a will so intestate so Im wondering what she has done to secure probate and why wasn't i contacted? Under spanish laws I would be the main beneficiary. She either told them he didn't have any children (when he clearly does) or something else? Im wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of this?, would the probate process check for heirs/beneficiarys? or just take her word for it? Would it be a criminal offence if she has purposely done this to benefit herself. any advice greatly appreciated! Im definitely getting in touch with a solicitor about this but would be great to know more about this.

I think you're unlikely to find people on the forum familiar with Spanish law. Unless your Spanish is sufficient to converse with the authorities, I suggest you contact an English speaking solicitor in Spain.2
