    I don’t understand why you say you don’t think you’ll ever be able to buy where you are 
    A quick look on Rightmove and there’s some lovely affordable properties 
    obviously we don’t know all your details so that’s just based on the limited information we have 
    Would be much better to plan to buy your own place than keep spending £600 per month on rent

    Why do you think you’ll move away once the kids are older but you wont do that now ? 
    All children need are lovinv parents,  a roof over their heads and food in their bellies,  if you can fo that earning £25,000 in barnsley with your familes and trusted friends around then they will have a better life than you earning alone £200,000 in barnet.

    £60k income - 32k & 28k, due to rise soon to roughly 35k & 29kWhere in the country do you live?  Norfolk
    With that income you can comfortably borrow £225k, possibly up to £250k.

    The average price of a semi-detached property in Norfolk is £230k.

    It sounds like you are comfortably able to afford a property where you live? Surely you are better off saving up for a deposit on a property in Norfolk!
