Why is this happening?

I have set up a pc for my friend to use in his office.  When I log on, all my personal stuff from my own PC is showing.  Going by the icons, I'm connected up-to the cloud.

I think it might be because I set the PC up with my own details (me being the administrator).  I have deleted this account.  But all my Microsoft files are still plastered all over the monitor and in the files.  All cloud based though.

I don't want any of my info on my friends PC - help!

Many thanks
Terrysdelight

Aside from begging the question of why you used your details in the first place (which seems pointless for a machine you're not going to use, you might as well have just up an account for your friend), the issue you describe is caused by your signing into your Microsoft account on this machine, and what that does if you sign in on another machine it will resync it to the most recent copy on the online account, hence why all your files have appeared.

Easiest solution is just to make a new user profile in the Accounts section of Settings, you want the "Family and other users" section, and then sign into that, and remove the other one.
  • Hi
I'm getting confused with this.  I have deleted my Microsoft Account - I am trying to login with my friends Microsoft Account - all ok with email and password, but then I am prompted for the Windows Password.
The PC was already set up with Windows 10 proplus - how do I find the password?
  • you could return it to factory settings. as for the password, check the paperwork that came with it. password should be there somewhere.

The Windows password is there to stop unauthorised users accessing the system. If you don't know it you cannot access. Go back to where you got it from and ask for the password. Otherwise, simply format and re-install.

Could try the backdoor options for the password.

There is a windows product key.  Is this the same as the password?  Or, if I simply do the factory reset - I guess I use this product key to reinstall the windows10 pro?

Sorry, I don't understand.  What does this mean?

Yes use the product key when re-installing. You can then set your own password or not have one at all if you want.

You shouldn't need the W10 key when reinstalling, it should be stored on the motherboard
