My son is 9, he was diagnosed when he was in year 2 so he'll have been 6.
I still find I need to 'parent' more like he's 4 or 5 when we're out. I can't let him join group activities without me having to join them due to his behaviours.
He's not naughty per say... he's just got the attention span of a gnat and no sense of danger and can be very impulsive.
Daily stuff like washing his face or brushing his teeth... nightmare..

Obtain medical evidence this is a disability that requires additional support.
First port of call is your Sons Doctors and not benefits. Benefit agencies would require evidence from healthcare professionals that your Sons behaviours are such that they qualify for additional support. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
DLA maybe possible but you need to show that he needs more care and attention than that of a child the same age that doesn't have a disability. Information here. https://www.sense.org.uk/get-support/information-and-advice/welfare-benefits/dla-for-children/
