TIE documentation for entry into Spain. New GOV.UK update confusion

My daughter is due to return back to Madrid Jan 10th as she is undertaking her third year undergraduate placement teaching English. Prior to leaving she had her final interview and was granted a TIE but the card was not available at the time and she flew home later that day. She has all the paperwork / reference documentation etc. I have been receiving the many GOV.UK email updates pertaining to Spain. Previously I was informed that residents would be allowed in if in possession of a TIE card OR if already applied for and was in receipt the supporting documentation. The latest update(30/12/20) makes no mention of the latter clause and just states a TIE card.
I appreciate that these restrictions are up to the Jan 5th, but was wondering if now a hard copy TIE card is now mandatory and supporting documentation is now not sufficient to allow entry. I cannot imagine things being relaxed post Jan 5th. TIA

I’m. It sure what the difference is between a TIE and an RIE, but if you need to show that your residency application is in progress, the advice is to text NIE to +34600124377.
You should then receive a text back is Spanish stating your application progress and you can use that you show you are in process.

there is a Facebook group ‘BritsinSpain’ that may be able to help.

Another option is to contact the Spanish embassy in London, 02072355555 emb.londres@maec.es

If you can prove the situation, the easiest way to have clarity on this may be to contact the Spanish Embassy in London. Upon receiving the proof, they should be able to grant a written exemption to any entry ban, which will satisfy airlines that there will not be an entry rejection, subject to meeting any other requirements for residents.

What Silver said too, as I don't fully understand what she has written.
