Gatwick has two runways, although normally only the southern one is used. Would it affect you if the northern one is used as well or instead?
Gatwick is effectively a single runway airport. The other might be used for emergencies/maintenance
I was thinking about expansion in the future.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

They never use both runways, because they are right next to each other. The shorter one is only used if the main runway is not available. They are so close to each other,  it would make very little difference to approach and departure paths.

The chances of that are close to zero, it was already rejected in favour or the 3rd runway at LHR.

Maybe read their current plans https://www.gatwickairport.com/business-community/future-plans/long-term-plans/

"By using new technologies on Gatwick’s Main Runway and innovative proposals to bring the existing Northern Runway into routine use, Gatwick’s Master Plan offers an agile and low-impact way of unlocking new capacity and increased resilience from within the airport’s existing infrastructure."

Who'd have thought that an airport owner would be looking for ways of utilising an existing runway to increase capacity at almost zero cost?
