Overpriced Plumbing Job

My 76 year old mother recently had some plumbing work done. She had two leaky taps. She's slightly vulnerable and very trusting and wouldn't have known what a reasonable price would be,The two sink taps in the bathroom were replaced and the washer in a kitchen tap also replaced. A little pipework, cost £705. The plumber then advised the hot water tank needed replacing. £1500. For a tank that is £183 from screwfix. Overall he was there around 8 hours and she's paid £2200. He then wanted to change the header tank for £850 + vat, but managed to halt this when I found out. There were no quotes here only invoices when the work was finished. I feel she wasn't fully informed. This is surely overpriced to the extreme, can anyone advise what we can do?

contact the company and inform trading standards in your area get their advice . we don't protect our vulnerable enough but its so difficult to keep a check on them ( traders and vulnerable )you know they've over charged . Did she or you contact them to come out quote . you can do a charge back on her debit card but to what price because they've done work I'm unsure how that works with service . I would be !!!!!! if someone charged back on a job I did if the price was agreed with the homeowner . If the family was expecting an unknown to them plumber to their elderly and slightly vulnerable family member . They should shoulder some of the blame for her being ripped off . Harsh but sorry
