Holiday July 2021, Insurance cover

Before I go ahead with booking and finalizing my holiday for July 2021, I want to sort out my insurance, to make sure I'm fully covered.  And currently with the FCO telling us, restrictions in place for flying to Italy, so need essential reason to fly.  But for the obvious reasons, my holiday not until July 2021, and hopefully by then restrictions will be lifted, and flights back to normal

If I take out travel insurance today, even though there are restrictions in place, but my travel plans aren't until July 2021, will I be covered.  Have already asked some travel insurance companies, but have refused to give me an answer.  Insted they have suggested I contact Biba, so anyone here able to help me, would I be covered, if I take out travel insurance today, for July 2021

The experiences of many posters on here have demonstrated that you need to check carefully exactly what the Ts & Cs of each insurance policy are, rather than making sweeping generalisations or assumptions!

MSE's insurance guide at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cheap-travel-insurance/ includes plenty of information about buying insurance with Covid protection in mind.
  • Agree with above but would add: be careful as it will be hard to find an insurance company that covers ALL Covid related eventualities for example you may find you are covered if you yourself are told to isolate but not for FCO advice against travel

i would choose my holiday carefully, ideally a package with a reputable company eg BA or Jet 2, that offer free cancellations in the event we are still in same situation in June (if such exist)  Check and recheck the small print.  Take copies of absolutely everything.

Not a great time to be booking but appreciate that the tourism industry needs people to keep optimistic and book holidays to keep it going.   Good luck. 👍

It may not be a requirement to travel to Italy.
Judging by the fiasco operating there in October when you were supposed to have had a test or be tested on arrival only for my son and I to walk straight in with no testing at the Airport or advice to have one, I wouldn't fret to much.
