Will sky plus remote work with older sky box?

Hi folks,
I have the older standard sky digi box that I use for getting sky around the house to other tv's through RF2 output, but i need a new remote control as old one doesn't work anymore, no red lights on it when I press the buttons even though I have replaced the batteries.
Looking around for the best price for a replacement remote, will the newer Sky plus remote work with the older sky digi box?

Hi,why not try this first, though I would use cotton buds, or gently with am old tooth brush and some kinda alcohol cleaner.1

i would buy a replacement from ebay they are very cheap1

Whta FM says above. I have done this with many remotes and 99% worked fine afterwards, use gin to clean all the contacts.1
