In terms of charges, I think iWeb is cheaper as buy and hold would be £25 + 2 x £5 = £35 then nothing afterwards whereas Halifax is £12.50 per quarter so £50 a year.
HSD is £12.50 pa for an ISA (GIA no ongoing charge) then £12.50 per trade or £2 per regular purchase.
Has HSD changed recently then coz I think I was paying £12.50 a quarter which is why I swapped to iWeb.

No, their ISA has been £12.50 pa for years.
Perhaps a false memory like how Americans are sure Nelson Mandela died in prison?
Anyway today is the last day of iWeb opening at £25.

Yep you're right, I checked my spreadsheet when I did the swap and it does have HSD ISA at £12.50pa. Looks like their SIPPs have quarterly charges so maybe that's what confused me.

OK - thank you to all on this thread.

I have just opened my account.
Where does the £25 get taken from?  I assume this is from the debit card I entered?  Or from the funds I transferred?
Thanks!  I know some of these might seem like stupid questions.  Just want to be sure I am doing everything right!

You pay the £25 up front so with your card when you register

Interesting as that hasn't happened.  I did enter my card details.  And I transferred £50 into my new account.  This £50 is showing in my account as "available to spend".  But no charge against this and only the £50, plus a £1 test transaction are pending on my debit card.
  • It's a debit fee, it might take a couple of days to show on your bank account records.

The transfer of my L&G ISA direct accounts are not going too well to i-web, not sure which side is responsible, have had discussions with both.

Isas were held at L&G in 4 separate accounts (they couldn't merge them for whatever reason). Only 2 were transferred, the other two are still held direct. With one of those that has been transferred, one holding over £3k is missing in transit.

Been told I should "give it a week" while they chase up by email

Blimey, that doesn't sounds good. On my list for this week was to move my cash isa to them. Hopefully cash is a simple process!

L&G are a bit weird in how they treat ISAs for example splitting them between a Lump Sum ISA and a Regular Savings ISA account depending on how you make the contributions.
