How soon to hard searches show on your credit file?

When do hard searches/footprints become visible on apps such as ClearScore? Is it immediately?

On the monthly refresh.  You'll only see it immediately if you have a real time view of your files.

I was a bit bored, so checked my ClearScore and Credit Karma reports (free versions)
New Amazon/NewDay card opened 30 Nov, one report has a notification that it will be added at the next update the other already shows it as active, however the searches have not yet appeared.
I guess they'll be there at the next update.

Not sure if it's maybe Karma sends me an email as soon as a Hard Search has been completed.

The reason for asking is that I tried to add a new mobile phone account to my o2 account (which would require a credit search). When I tried to place the order online and make a small upfront payment for the device, the o2 site just fell over - no payment was taken and I got no email to say the order went through or was declined. 

O2 have told me this morning that they can’t see if a credit search was done hence I’m trying to see if they did and the website fell over after they had done a search. 

I’m wary of trying to order again in case it does another search as I thought multiple searches in quick succession didn’t reflect well (and we are planning on adding to our mortgage in the next 3-6 months to build an extension. 

Or am I over thinking it and a couple of potential searches from a mobile phone provider wouldn’t cause any negative impact on my credit score?
