Silver Coins and Tax Help?

My other half wants a couple silver coins from me as a birthday gift, She has three gold ones from years ago such as krugerrand and Britannia coins. I don't understand about the tax thing with silver such as vat and Capital Gains. I have heard from internet searches that the Britannia version might be tax free.
Does anybody know of any good threads talking about this issue outlining when you pay the tax, does it get added to the price with the ones for sale on Ebay and Amazon or do i have to go to the Tax office to pay or get a bill through the post later.

Silver attracts tax at the normal rates. Gold is tax-free.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
