Google Cloud Print Alternatives

I didn't realise how easy my life was. We have a Dell Black and White Laser printer connected via ethernet to our internet hub. It has an IP address, we can print to it from any of our phones, tablets etc from anywhere in the house or anywhere in the world using google cloud print....
...until Friday when google are withdrawing this free service.
Has anyone found a good free alternative that offers the same functionality? Many solutions seem to require us to leave a PC running as a 'server' 24/7 for whenever we want to print which is costly and seems like a security risk too.
Any help gratefully received.

I looked quite extensively but didn't find one that didn't require a server.
Luckily my hp printer supports remote print via emailEx forum ambassador

You could set up a raspberry pi as a print server

You could try PrintNode. I moved over to them for printing orders. I've installed it on the packing station desktop computer but it's seems you can also your raspberry pi.

Do you really need to print from anywhere in the world? Why not wait and just print when you get home?0

Quite. I would be very nervous about a device that handles paper and gets very hot inside (the fuser unit) powering up and running in an empty house when I am elsewhere in the world!jon81uk said:Do you really need to print from anywhere in the world? Why not wait and just print when you get home?
However that it not what the OP asked. Do Dell not do a cloud print app for their printers? Certainly apps exist for both my Brother laser printer and my Canon ink jet. I once owned a Dell colour laser printer and that was Xerox in disguise. The right Xerox driver would work with it on a Mac as Dell didn't offer a Mac driver. So maybe there is a Xerox app?1
