I am sorry to hear about it. It all depends in your landlord, I had to surrender the flat I was renting much earlier than the end of the contract last year and my landlord had compassion and let me end it in good terms. I've done this at least once before, and the landlord before wasn't as kind as the last one. As to what you say, any decent person would allow you to do so, I think that paying partly with the deposit makes sense, I've also done this in the past.

Good luck on this and be sincere to your landlord, we are all humans.

Local Housing Allowance for a 1-bed flat in Hillingdon is £800, £925 or £1000/mo depending on where in the borough you are.
If OP is under 35 then it would be the shared accommodation rate used in calculations (which would explain the £900 total UC)

Make sure that you speak to the landlord as well as the agent - there are landlords who are quite capable of foregoing a few months rent.

Thank you all for the direction. Im currently drafting an email to landlord to request an early surrender and to see what he says. Appreciate all the advice. Thank you

I would hold on. You aren't behind with your rent yet. There is currently a ban on evictions. When this ends there will be a backlog of evictions for the courts to handle, you don't have to go anywhere in the short term. By all means tell your landlord that you have lost your job and can only afford half rent at the moment. He may be understanding. I wouldn't surrender your tenancy just yet.

Look for a new job, find out the benefits you can get if needed, look for cheaper accommodation, and when you get a new job start building a savings/investment pot to support you in the next crisis. Flagging your present difficulty to the landlord isn`t the best plan IMO.
