Combi boiler installation from a standard boiler system

Hi all
Is this quote fair?
4 bedroom house, removal of a very old standard boiler system for a new combi boiler

Baxi platinum 40kw (10 year warranty)
Removal of existing system
Alterations to suit new combi system
Removal of old cisterns and cylinders from site
Installation of magnaclean system filter
Hive programmable thermostat
System powerhouse with chemicals pack

All in £2800
I'm a complete novice at plumbing and heating so no idea if this is a good price or not...I assume to cost is in the labour..

Any advise would be highly appreciated regards

Check whether your gas supply pipe is large enough - requirements have changed

I'd suggest that you check with the installer that the work includes:
    • remediating any undersized gas supply pipes,
    • all the work necessary to comply with the manufacturers conditions for the warranty (including flushing the existing heating system),
    • notification to building control
£2800 is a fair price for the work providing it does include all the above. I paid £2675 recently for a system boiler swap. My install also did not include the Nest Thermostat which is a good unit and worth having, and there was no need to increase the  size of the gas supply pipe.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Sounds like a good price for the work quoted. We paid nearly £4000 to change from a standard boiler to a combisystem. We did however move the location of the boiler from the kitchen to the garage which would have increased our costs compared to yours.

The price is very good. You are usaully looking at around £3000 + for a boiler installation. I noted that the quote says removal of cistern & cylinder. The cylinder is copper so thats £50 scrap value. Just check that they are Gas safe registered
