Misunderstood what you meant.  We call that a caravan if it's towed behind a car.  If it hooks onto the back of a truck it sounds like a Fifth wheeler where you can park up and it's free standing and you can use the truck to get around.

I was interpreting “truck” to be a pick-up truck, aka “a ute” to us Aussies.  Am I missing something?

Caravans are pulled by biggish cars like SUVs; 4 x 4s.  Fifth wheelers need a pick up truck with a particular fitting on the back to hook the "caravan" part onto which has legs which let down once parked up and then the pick up can drive from under it and be used to get around.  Not sure if I've explained that very well but I know what I mean, LOL!  I've probably confused everyone now!

I too was thinking fifth wheel or a demountable.

Ours is not a 5th wheel (although I think they make 5th wheels that are shorter than ours - it's rather long), but it does hitch onto the back of the pickup truck.  This general sort, but ours is longer than this one and has a section that slides out.

@TwibbleDee, if I drove past that on the motorway I would just describe it as a big car towing a caravan  
(I'm not someone with any familiarity with them all; that'\s just what I'd call it as a layperson!)
