Well, that sheds some light on why OH gets so anxious when he has to go & train people down at HQ! I don't think he gets any extra time allotted for preparation, just plows on with his regular duties.
And that's why I too am short of sleep & somewhat chaotic today!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -

And that's why I too am short of sleep & somewhat chaotic today!I tell myself that the delegates don't know what I am going to deliver, so if I miss something out, they won't know!
I have delivered scripts that someone else has written before, I think that is more difficult because you have not had the thought processes behind it.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

In normal years I still teach evening classes once or twice a year at my old university - when I have had proposals for a new course accepted, I get paid for developing it at iirc a rate of 2 hours' pay for each hour of teaching, so for a 15-hour course I'm paid for 30 hours; that's only for the development, once, and it's new from iirc 2018; previously there was no prep-pay at all.
And even after 20+ years, I always get butterflies before every single class... in the last 2 years I've been running them on Zoom for my friends, and even though I know they're all lovely, I STILL get jumpy and anxious just beforehand!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

After over a year in the classroom on the ERP project, (because, of course, they realised eventually that we had to train everyone not just the original handful of project managers), my “Partner in Crime” and I spent about a year creating user guides and e-learning etc for parts of the ERP that weren’t in the original implementation (the purchase order module, an electronic purchase invoice approval system, etc) before turning our hands at learning and training a new consolidation package. This time, we’d be training 60 odd senior finance people but the two of us would be in the training room together, sharing the duties. I clearly remember the afternoon when we tested the set up of the training room and had a practice run through. Afterwards, PIC and I turned to each other and one of us said “...And....we’re back!”.
I think the other one responded with “It’s show time!”, but I can’t tell you which one of us said which line. We’d worked so closely together, for so long, that we’d finish each other’s sentences. (I was really lucky. I got to work with one of my best friends for four years. It rarely felt like work, just doing stuff with PIC.)
DH phoned an hour ago to tell me that he was heading home and would be here by 7pm. He’s OK, doesn’t feel tired. The training went “OK”. I guess I’ll hear the details when he gets here.

Delivering other people’s training material is always harder. Fortunately I worked as in a team of trainers and by the time I left we knew each other’s thought processes. When we co delivered we used to mix things up and hand over to the other unexpectedly just to keep each other on our toes occasionally we’d throw random song lyrics into our training and see how long it would take for the trainees to pick up on them!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I loathe using other people's training material too. The worst I had was taking over the training course and notes for someone who was off sick, and had to present the course to her managers. I knew absolutely nothing about the subject! Fortunately for me the managers were very sympathetic, and explained things to me as we went along. The colleague was eventually off for five weeks, and I became a real expert by the end of that time!
I never liked passing my notes over to other people to use either. I am a swine for using bullet points as aide memoires and they also became the powerpoint slides, so not always much use for other trainers to follow.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Good news. DH got hoe safe and sound.
Because nobody seems to read the handouts these days, one of DH’s tricks is to insert the word “banana” somewhere deep in the text. I copied that trick today, when I sent out my weekly email to the operating units requesting updated cash flow forecasts. We’ll see who notices.
Sleep well tonight Ladies.
