Oh what a shame! Did you check they hadn't just removed it to circulate elsewhere or something? Mind you - 3 plants is a nice treat.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

My undergarments are getting to the stage of uncomfortably tight
Maybe I should try eating on the ration instead!Laura_Elsewhere said:Most of my clothes have been a bit tight for years - this last year is the first time my weight has edged down in aeons! Sloooow, but...
Ditto. I think exercise and muscle tone are a big factor for me. I lost weight last year because, every night after working-from-home, we went for a half hour walk, getting exercise that we wouldn’t have had back when the world was open. It gave us the mental break as well. That habit has been broken because DH has a new job and has to go into the office most days.
I am still running 3 days a week. (It’s nearly the anniversary of when I started, last year.) I do need to find a muscle-building program to which I will actually stick, because muscle tissue burns calories.

I might just need to do some rationing research about food. Could be interesting at least....
My mind, after I mentioned it, went into a bit of a rabbit hole of considering that a box of chocolates used to be a birthday treat, or a once a week saved up pocket money way back when, now here we are buying 3 or 4 multipacks on whims etc.

Madness
We have homemade biscuits and tarts and cakes most days with lunch - but they are made using my Gran's kitchen equipment, meaning they are far smaller than modern bought ones!
Jam tarts, for example - the pastry has no extra sugar in it (why would you?!), and the homemade jam has no high-fructose corn syrup (which definitely piles on the pounds, far worse for your body than sugar), and each tart has about half the jam of bought ones, but is perfectly fine, no sense of stinginess. Similarly, the fairy cakes are much smaller than the dread American cupcakes that are everywhere, and instead of being covered completely with a three-inch blob of HFCS frosting, they just have the top cut out, and a little blob of homemade butter-icing and the two halves of the cut-out bit as 'wings' popped back in to make butterfly cakes. I even do a tiny version in petits-four cases which we call pixie-cakes - like fairy-cakes but smallerwhich are only about 15g, and come in at about 60 calories even with butter-icing!
Rationing may go against quite a bit of modern anti-carb dieting theories, but everyone says the nation was never as healthy before or since, so maybe carbs are the way to go after all - but coupled with very very little sugar, not much fat and tons of fibre...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
