Before you start doing major things have a look around at what shower heads are available - there are a variety of gadgets designed to reduce water use and you might find one which gives you a shower with the same amount of water you currently have but feels like more.  Worth looking into as a cheaper and easier option before you get all expensive.

    2) How 'acceptable' is your current electric shower? I mean, is it worth the ~£300 cost of replacing it with a 10.8kW jobbie for 10% extra flow? (£200 for the shower and £100 for labour - very roughly). Only you can answer that.
I suppose with 10.8 kW you'd have nearly 14% higher flow, which is getting more like a noticeable increase..

Another thing to consider is what happens if/when the boiler breaks down.  If you still have the use of an electric shower, that can be very welcome.

We have just moved into a new build and the en-suite shower is 9.5w and pretty rubbish compared to the mains shower in the family bathroom.

The cable is 10mm so can sustain a 10.5w shower but would it be much more powerful or would we hardly notice?

We have a combi boiler so a power shower is unachievable so I am told.
Having just had my bathroom refurbished and compared a lot of showers (and installed a 10.8). I personally feel it really isn't noticeable. Electric showers are pure garbage from the cheapest to the most expensive in comparison to other options. It's just a necessary evil for certain types of properties.
