bad service

I purchased a top from 'fre?h G?rb?ge'. in Belfast on tuesday.
Unfortunately it was not suitable, i took it back for a refund. I was told i was not entitled to one, merely an exchange or credit note. The manager was extremely short with me, and embarrassed me in front of a rather crowded shop.
I am merely posting here so that any customers will be made aware, only buy in the shop, if u are absolutely certain that it is suitable.
Because u don't get ur money back. :
May everyone learn from my experience

Why is that particularly bad service? ok manager was a bit off, nothing too serious. You should always check what the refund policy is before you buy. There is no legal right to a refund unless faulty.0

You are not entitled to a refund purely on the grounds that it was unsuitable.
The shop did not even need to offer a credit note and could have just told you you were stuck with it0 -
guess i am just used to better customer service.
generally have a receipt, get ur money back.
but now aware and will in future ask what is the exchange policy.0 -
I totally agree with you as i was in the same situation with the same shop.
the sign saying no refunds is tiny and very well hidden by the till and the info is not displayed anywhere else in the shop.
also the manager is very rude and very offensive and really does talk down to you and try embarass you in a packed shop.
as far as the refund is concerned you would think it would be just as easy for them to give the refund rather than just humiliate customers by shouting and barrating them while in a full shop.
i will bow to the 'no refund' policy but as far as customer service goes this really was the WORST place i've ever experienced, and i have experienced some stinkers. I will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on, not that he'll probably care.

Gosh, this is amazing...two people bought tops in a small shop in Belfast called Fresh Garbage on Tuesday, neither tried them on to check their suitability, then both needed to return them, then by another amazing stroke of coincidence both customers are members of MoneySavingExpert and both come here to complain about the customer service.

You'd almost think it was the same customer, their experiences are so similar.0 -
Snowy,
Do I note a subtle hint of cynicism entering into your reply .. its so subtle that I am not sure if it is there or not
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Any signs displayed, or as you say hidden (or not) by shops are largely irrelevent where refunds are concerned as they would have no bearing on your legal rights anyway - which in this (these) case(s) are absolutely none.0

yeah you almost would think it was the same person. strange maybe he got annoyed at me after that person brought their stuff back or vice versa. i also bought other things but the top was the only thing i needed to bring back. but thanks for the observation.Hello Floor Make Me A Sandwich!0

haven't got the time or energy to be two people on here.
Don't appreciate the sarcasm.
I vented my anger onto the board, got some advice and feel better for it,
don't patronise me by assuming anything else.
i enjoy reading this site, and logged on this morning not expecting the replies that my response had accumulated.
thank u ruiner for ur post, sorry u had to experience it also.
in fututre i will think twice about posting in case someone gets suspicious, or maybe i am too sensitive.
thanks for a great start to my morning folks ( sorry sarcasm, isn't one of my strong points)0 -
Don't let it get you down Blushred, was not my intention to cause any offence.
Don't let it deter you from posting in future - it's all about opinions and that's what makes these boards what they are.
Hoping you have a nice day!
