Which paint for porch?

Hello everyone. I have a small porch at the entrance to my house. It’s a small space about 1mx1m when you open the front door and before you go into the hall. The internal walls are plastered and painted in what appears to be gloss paint (the kind I might expect to see on woodwork not walls). This gloss paint is really great when the dog shakes himself dry and dirty water is splattered all over the walls, wipes down nice and easy! But it looks awful! My question is, if we are renovating this porch, what paint would be suitable for use in such a room (that will be as easy to keep clean as the gloss)? Thanks!

Nothing will be as easy to wipe down as gloss, other than tiles or the like.  That said it's a small area so if you used a hard-wearing paint it would be a quick job to recoat when necessary.

To renovate you would need to remove what is there!  I'd rough the surface and repaint with oil based eggshell, which will wipe down, but isn't shiny.
  • Another option is a good quality masonry paint such as Sandtex Ultra Smooth. That's a nigh-on matt finish and is nicely durable and shrugs off most things - muddy water certainly shouldn't be an issue.

As said above, lightly key the existing surface and then roll on - masonry paint is renowned for sticking to most surfaces really well.

I would tile half way then paint the top . Quick spray wipe down tiles will last longer than paint . But I hate painting but like tiling .
  • Kilz Interior/Exterior Enamel Porch paint. It worked beautifully for me. I bought a gallon bucket from home depot for $50. Cost-effective and great value. But limited color options.
  • A potential option for masonry paint could also be Emperor Masonry Paint - https://emperorpaint.co.uk/
