EON Direct Debits

Just noticed that EON have taken my January 2021 Direct Debit Payment.
Christmas Eve is a bit early for that.
There is a message on EON's phone line saying that it's an IT issue affecting "some customers" and steps are being taken to return the funds. It also says that further details can be found on their website, but I can't find any!
You may wish to keep an eye on your bank account if you have an EON Direct Debit.

    I noticed the same thing when viewing my bank account and immediately rang E.ON.
    Better resolve this today.
  • Based on the Twitter comments the only way you'll get the money today is to speak to your bank and ask for an indemnity claim.
  • EON now saying they will refund on 29th December.
    That seems outrageous.
  • It's the next working day so I'm guessing that's the reason behind it.

    Hi all, you may have seen the messages on our website or on our social media accounts but just wanted to confirm the latest with this. 

    It's an issue with our IT system that has caused some customer's DD payments to be collected early in error. It seems to be those who pay between the 24th - 5th.  

    We are refunding all payments that have been taken incorrectly on the first available date; Tuesday 29th of December. If you are unable to wait for a refund and need these funds returning immediately - please contact your bank for options of how they can help.

    We will cover all costs for bank charges incurred due to our error. We will continue to update you when we have further information. Unless it's urgent please refrain from calling us. 

    We are so terribly sorry for the stress and inconvenience caused especially at this time of year and will be working hard to help put things right for all of our customers that have been affected.
