How to record CCTV

  • A regular DVR won't have motion detection. Most CCTV DVRs do have this feature. I have absolutely no idea how these work; I'm not sure whether you can just T-off the coax cable that you plug into the TV and then you tune into the cameras or whether you would have to modify your existing setup.

If the CCTV channels can be 'seen' but a regular terrestrial channel TV (not satellite) then they can be 'seen' by a PVR  - tune it in and the two CCTV channels will be discovered eg channel 121, 122 or whatever. The box in the attic is obviously combining the CCTV RF with the antenna RF to provide a composite signal to the wall antenna socket.
