Day trading

day trading will breed a gamblers mentality, even subconsciously you may not be aware of it and you will regret not making a previous trade and count the potential profits you 'could' have made. Or alternative, make a rash decision and your down 30-50%.
Look at the EQT share price for the last 1-3 days, it's difficult when to take your gains or losses.
Take the pain with the gain and do your own research
Don't forget the FCA will not compensate you for bad investments
OP can you also define success for your lloyds Shares, which wouldn't have been my first or last choice to be honest. 3%? 5% gain? 10£ punt? 100£ punt?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I have often thought of doing as Apodemus says but I have never actually done so. Probably down to the type of person I am I suppose. I have no problem taking a profit but selling part of a holding which I have gradually built -up over a period of perhaps a couple of years or longer , with the intention of reinvesting in the share shortly afterwards would cause me angst. If the share price fell, I would end-up with a few more shares but if the shares rose steeply, I would end-up with fewer shares than I started with. Sometimes the rise may be down to a known event and to some extent can be factored into the decision (you expect an announcement of good sales figures or signing of a deal, for instance) but at other times the rise may be down to a change in sentiment when more people notice the share , the share starts to climb and a feeding frenzy sometimes starts and the share price rises quite rapidly. This is what has happened with PHE in the last week or so, as more people discover the company.. If I had decided sell part of my holding at 3p just before the rise , I would be kicking myself when the price went to 7p days later.

Most amateurs doing day trading lose money. So, the best advice is not to do it. Most professional investors don't attempt it either. So, what do you think makes you special that you will buck the trend?

Given the word order in the second sentence of the above post, if we translate it into German, it might make sense but shouldn't the verb be at the end of the sentence ?
