Cash isa to ss isa

I'm a 34 female, home owner, no debt, pay into work pension & have an emergency fund. I have just over 2k that has been sitting in cash isa for 3yrs (currently at 0.05%). I was thinking of splitting into a better rate cash isa & opening my 1st ss isa. The ss isa is for long term investment & I will continue to drip feed it. I am drawn to the likes of aj Bell or HL as I can invest in funds and buy individual shares under the isa wrapper. But I don't see myself trading shares on a regular basis. Most likely a small number of particular shares. Does this sound OK? Or should I maybe go for a cheaper fund option like vanguard for a year or 2 until I am a bit more experienced in investing?

In general fund(s) make more sense than shares for someone just starting out and many investors will never opt to buy individual company shares. HL makes sense while you have a small investment portfolio, you can transfer out to free to a cheaper fixed fee provider when the percentage costs become more significant. If you were to opt for Vanguard, then using their own platform would be cheaper than holding the Vanguard fund with HL.

If you are investing for the next 25 years /for retirement , it usually makes more sense to increase your pension contributions due to the tax benefit.
Also have you looked at what your pension is actually invested in and is it suitable for you ?
