Music mp3's vanished from USB

I put some Christmas tracks using the mp3 format on a USB to play at parents house on Christmas day.
But I put the USB key where I loaded the songs onto it on my computer at home in my parents computer and it says the USB key is empty.
But if I put it back in my computer the tracks are still there.
Whats going on?

Look at the properties of the files on the pen drive.  If they're only 1/2Kb, they're not MP3 files and they're more likely to be shortcuts.

Thanks for that, well I ripped them on there as 320kbps mp3's. I have done this many times before, but for some reason parents pc doesnt recognise them.

You could right-click / properties / tools then check for errors on the USB drive. Then safely remove it.

Lack of codecs would not stop the files from showing up, even if they could not be played.

Although the OP does not say, I am assuming the two PCs are the same ie both windows or both apple... (or both Linux).
  • The USB stick doesn't have a switch on it to put it into read only mode?
Do you have a third computer you can try the USB stick with?
Perhaps you can put the MP3s in One Drive or Google Drive etc. and download them at your parents house?
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?
