in Credit cards
Quick question: If I use my Visa Debit card to enable a bank transfer at the bank, does that give you the same Chargeback protection as using the debit card directly with supplier? I.e you have used your card to make the payment. I need to make a four figure deposit followed by two five figure payments for work to be undertaken. I'm waiting to find out if the supplier accepts card payment, as this would be my preferred method of payment for the protection Credit and Debit cards offer.

If it's a bank transfer, you won't use your debit card.
Only card transactions have the potential for chargeback.0 -

The point I'm seeking clarification on is that in order to enable the bank clerk to process the transfer, I have to use my Visa Debit Card in the chip and pin device to authorise the payment. This then allows the bank to make the payment to the supplier.
In the unfortunate event that you needed to make a Chargeback, would the fact that you used your card in making the transaction cover you?
If you make a transfer via your laptop at home, you're clearly not using your card and then would probably not be covered. Thank you.0 -
Seems like that is just an ID verification, so no, you would not be covered - it would be exactly the same as if you had done it by internet banking for example.
To get protection you need to get the supplier to process the card by eg giving them the long number, exp date, cvv etc.0 -

All putting your card in and entering the pin does is link your account details up on their screen.
You are not making a debit card transaction.
