Huge bill owed to Boost when I swapped provider although I was on PAYG
I was with Ovo then Boost for a number of years on PAYG meter, always said no to swapping even when Martin Lewis said I was paying too much, meter never ran out. Got collared but Scottish Power in my local Morrisons early Aug and agreed to swap. Biggest mistake ever, should have stayed with my gut instinct. I had saved £99 in my winter wallet and have been trying since August to get this back off them. They have sent a final bill which I do not understand, other than they say I owe them £250 and then take off the £99 I had saved. I have argued till I am blue in the face and being told that basically that is the final bill, potentially they had me down for a wrong tariff but they wont/cant explain any of it. I now have a guy called Jack dealing with me and when I suggested I was going to go the the ombudsman he said they could wipe the bill clean but I would not get my winter wallet back., this makes me wonder if I should fight, or give in. Martin Lewis, I think you are absolutely brilliant, you helped us get back bank charges and ppi - but I dont know if you realise what happens when you tell people to SWITCH. I was on PAYG, so paid for elec/gas before I used it, how do I begin to fight this. Help!!

First get that offer in writing, do it now. Then challenge them again in writing about the money in your wallet.1

Take the offer.
You are not the first or nor the last to believe you cannot build up debt on a PAYG meter.
Martin Lewis sold this site and does not read any posts.
