CRL/CGICE (or C&G or Casualty and General) 10 Year Latent Defects Warranty Worthless

Purchased a new property in 2016 with a CRL warranty. The  underwriter is shown on the Warranty Certificate is CGICE (Casualty and General Insurance Company Ltd).   Because of the insolvency of CRL, I have recently been in contact with them and CGICE (via their broker Nexus EBA).  Nexus EBA say they have no record of a CGICE policy relating to my property, and that the underwriter was probably Alpha Insurance (also insolvent). CRL say it was an Alpha policy, with the certificate showing CGICE in error.  Alpha's broker, BCR Legal Group, say they have no record of an Alpha policy, and cover was by CGICE.  I had no letters from the FSCS offering premium compensation.  So (1) I have no latent defects insurance and (2) I haven't got an Alpha Warranty Certificate so I can't claim a premium refund from FSCS.

It looks like the Warranty Certificate might have been issued fraudulently, but who issues these?

Anyone else in this mess and found a way out?

Was it issued before the date of the insolvency?

Have you done a forum search for "CRL"? There are number of threads here on this.

Warranty issued in 2016, prior to CRL insolvency.

Can find nothing similar on Forum  involving CGICE.
