Plasterboarding "Inside" the chimney Breast advice

Hi everyone I hope you are all well .
I am planning to block the chimney flue at the bottom with some cement board and wooden frame.
My question is, the "box" bit that will house electrical socket and the TV accessories, can this be made with standard plasterboard ? I plan to just stick the plasterboard directly onto the bricks using some grab adhesive. (after I have give the bricks a good clean)
Will the plasterboard be ok inside the chiney breast? Any issues i should be lookig out for ?
Thanks all
I have a little DIY project planned in the coming days and just need
some advice please, I will be widening a fireplace recess (where it used to be, no longer used for this purpose), in order to
make it into a cable box / router area with TV hanging on the chimney
breast just above it.

Big to me would be ventilation into the blocked of chimney both top and bottom.3

Hi thanks for the response , I got that bit covered ! , the back of the chimney goes out into a shared passage way, I plan to drill a few hole right throgh above and and also below the "seal" to allow for proper ventilation

as long as you ventilate it properly it should be ok. I'd use either moisture resistant plasterboard ( green ) or cement ( tiling ) board instead as that will definitely be ok....1

@floppydisk1 thanks for the input, yes ive seen some "No More Ply" boards that I am thinking of using, they are cheaper than the green plasterboards. Just thinking of how i can keep costs down as much as possible.

You should make sure the chimney is capped with a ventilated cap as well otherwise water will run down inside the chimney. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

Will do, as soon as I can find someone to climb up there and do it for me I will get it capped !
