Do you know how many Ohms and Watts the 5" speakers in the ceiling are? If you are upgrading the system, it might be worth upgrading to better ceiling speakers too.
    I know nothink! ;)
We don't think the speakers are poor quality. ....

Perhaps ask the person who fitted it otherwise, just ask your son-in-law to take one out to check.  It should be printed on the back.

All seems a bit of a fuss just to listen to radio 2 and a few tunes in the kitchen. A Google home or Amazon Echo etc would do the job just as well and I doubt you would notice any difference in the audio quality.

The person that fitted it is not answering - maybe ask Son-in-Law when they visit outside on Boxing Day. Can he still come in the house if he's working? :D

Don't mind a bit of fuss and would like some variation in music, especially to avoid Jeremy Vine :p

And you can't do that with Google/Alexa because....? I would suggest you could have a larger variation than the one you own to boot...

... because we have speakers in the lounge and conservatory which I would like to retain to give better distribution of sound throughout that side of the house.

So is the KB Sound system powering all the ceiling speakers in the other rooms too or is there another amplifier somewhere?

Seems like quite a few speakers to be running off one system all at once?

Yes - cabled back to our Abitana box https://www.abitana.com/products/connect-pro , with a splitter switch for K, C, or both, then to the respective speakers. If we want to use the bathroom speakers, we switch the respective plug in the Abitana box

Looks like you have quite an expensive setup there, no wonder you want to retain as much of it as possible :)
