Fitting a laminate floor

Hi everyone, I have a small bedroom that is roughly 2.4m x 2.4m so a total of 5.8 sqm when rounded up, and i'd like to have some laminate flooring fitted. I plan on buying all the materials myself and so its just labour costs i would need to be worried about. I have been given the number of a handyman who is quoting £120. I'm no DIY expert but this seems a bit much. The room in question is totally empty and so all that needs doing is ripping up the existing carpet and fitting the laminate e.t.c. I am based in Bristol if that makes any difference. How much roughly should i expect to pay? Is £120 too much or in the correct region? Thanks.

I'd say it's a fair price but I am no expert. I have however laid laminate on my own in a fair few rooms in my time and all I can say is now I am older and my knees are not what they once were, I would not balk at paying £120 for someone to do it for me.

Apparently the asking price for it is £20 per square metre. If you really want to save money, just do it yourself, we did our whole house (have not done similar before) as we were qouted £1400-£1500 for a 67 sqm to lay laminate flooring.save for the rainy days0

£20 about per m2 isn't a bad mark to work with for fitting laminate . and decent money if you are doing the whole house or downstairs . a small room will require a cut every 2 or 3 planks . They are also ripping up the old stuff and prepping for the new floor with the underlay . I would say that's a really good price . Ask if he can do another job the same day . If not that's his days pay . Tea & Toast is a must for him .(or her)

I recently had laminate fitted in a room that was 2m x 3m. The company supplied and fitted the laminate including underlay and beading. I paid £230 altogether. It was a little more than I budgetted for but was glad to just pick what I wanted and then pay the money. No work involved for me as they brought samples to the house.0
