Online estate agents for selling - recommendations?

Hello, has anyone had any luck selling their house through an online site in the last 6 months? If so, can you recommend the online site? If not, what went wrong? My flat is in London (I believe Strike is not yet in London). Thanks!

Recommendation is - don't. Get an agent. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but many sellers won't touch someone using the likes of Purple Bricks.
I think you mean buyers rather than sellers. In my area property is in high demand and I don't see how that relates to the type of estate agent.

Whoever you choose, make sure they are on "Rightmove" & "On the market".
I viewed a property which was managed through "Doorsteps". The seller wrote the advert and it was poor. I viewed anyhow, and it was clear the seller was after far far far too much. That was acceptable, and i parted ways.

However, the biggest problem was "Doorsteps". They continually called me asking me to speak to the in-house mortgage broker as they could beat my AIP. This totally put me off...

So, the cheapest might not be the best...as they harass your buyers to make up the extra £££

As you can imagine, every EA is online - so I guess you mean 'Online only'. Is it because you want to pay a low fee or pay in advance or some other reason?

Does your question have any relevance or are you just an estate agent on here doing research?

Nope - just politely helping the OP by suggesting that if he/she gives a bit more background info, they might get more helpful answers.

Why would I be an EA? Are you one?

It sounded like a question that an EA would ask, no I've never been an EA but I am interested in why there is such aversion to online only EA in the 21st century, by the same logic Amazon.co.uk would have suffered for being online only.

Several reasons. I didn't consider it before, but I've found the local EAs useless in rentals. I was fully prepared to use one of them and took care to check their Ts & Cs, and pointed out various things I was unhappy with (I'm a lawyer, though not a property one - they were of course drafted really badly and there were various loopholes to slam you with double fees after a sole agency etc). They wouldn't change them. One was terrible at communication. 2 were so slow ever getting back to me about anything. They take a big cut and my experience of EAs has not been good in the past, so I wonder why I'd give them one. Then a friend said they'd bought via an online only estate agent site and it hadn't put them off, and I should look into it. And of course it will save me quite a bit of money.

Amazon gives fantastic customer service. The online agents are known for giving awful customer service.

    Big difference!
