Rechargeable batteries for DAB radio.

I am looking to buy a PURE ONE radio which is a budget priced(£50) DAB.

The only down side that I have heard of is that they "gobble up" batteries.

I believe that there is a battery pack which slots inside, and is charged up when the radio is being used off the mains.

The pack seems expensive at about £30.

As I have other rechargeable batteries, and a charger, about the place;could I save some dosh,by using those?

Finally,in the best money saving tradition, who has the best deal?

Many thanks for looking.

  • From what I can make out, the pure one requires 6 C batteries

    7dayshop.com do 6 2300mAh batteries for £8.97 + P&P

btw you can get the Pure one for 43.97 inc P&P from Amazon
  • You can use your existing C batteries and charger, no problem. But it is true that your DAB radio will draw more power, so the batteries will need recharged more frequently.

Lidl are a good source for cheap, quality rechargeable batteries and charger, if you don't already have them. Though you may need to spot them in Lidl's weekly specials when they are in stock.

Excellent radio, I'm listening to my Pure One now, I mostly run it off the mains, but a decent set of C cells last for quite a while if you use them intermittently. you can always use FM to save battery power. Its also possible to turn off the back light to extend the life a bit.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • as per the my suggestions to for the two way radio batteries, may be that would be better......!

Cheap rechargeable with poor chargers, are never money saving, they never get properly charged and don't last long. No point buying cheap ones 3 or 4 times when more expensive quality ones would last 5 times the time.

Better to spend a bit extra on a quality dV charger and good cells, which will last for hundreds (if not thousands) of charge cycles and last ages between recharges.
  • yeah, isofa i agree with you, because as per the mine experience of this one also at once i had also wast my money and specially the my important time to spend the cheap stuff., so suggestion from my side is the overall way...quality one is the best amongest all...so it's preferable than other that...
