Refund from The Shard (unable to visit due to Covid)

In short: we were unable to visit The Shard this year so one year, non-refundable any time ticket about to expire. Shard refuse to refund but have added three more months to the deadline (end March 2021).
In full: I bought the tickets for around £70 as a gift for my wife for Christmas 2019. The ticket allowed us to book any time in the year. We moved to the West Country in March, so pretty busy, then Covid hit and now we're reluctant to go to London (can't anyway for now). I don't feel inclined to visit London, or use a lift to go up dozens of floors to stand in a glass room with dozen of others. We care for my elderly in-laws and we need to stay Covid-free so that we can protect them. I asked The Shard for a refund and they refused, citing that the ticket was non-refundable. They offered to add three months to the deadline, to end March 2021. Clearly, given our situation, that's unacceptable.
Does anyone have any ideas about what we can do? I think it needs to be over £100 for the credit card to be interested. I'm a bit stuck.
PS I have looked at selling the tickets on eBay or similar, but others seem to be doing the same and the tickets are selling for pennies. Any help gratefully accepted.

I can't see that they're in breach, if they've actually been open for much of the time (and already extended the validity). Seems to be your own circumstances which have led to you not visiting.

A lot of the reasons for not going seem to be your reasons not the shards.
Not sure why you should get a refund

How long have they been closed since last Xmas?  If it’s longer than 3 months then ask for a longer extension, if it’s less than 3 months I think they are being reasonable as it’s your circumstances that are stopping you going

I don't think the CC company would "be interested" and quite rightly too. There were lots of opportunities when you could, perfectly legally, have used your tickets but you chose not to. Maybe that was a wise choice in your circumstances but it was your choice. Why do you expect somebody else to pick up the tab?

    Hi
Could you not ask them nicely to extend the ticket for 6 months - explain your issue around COVID and looking after someone who is vulnerable - say you understand it would be on a goodwill basis .... be nice & polite and appeal to their good nature - they might say ok. You never know.

Is referring to S75 & would have to be per ticket.
But there are chargebacks that work. Sadly none that cover your scenario. As the event has/is available (Well not at the moment given Tier 4 London).
