Yes, I thought the whole lot might be prohibitively but hoped I'd be able to do a single storey rear extension for £30k or so. Am I being naive?GDB2222 said:I’m guessing that the total cost of the work that you are proposing is in the region of £100-150k. Obviously, it depends on the size of extensions etc. It could easily be more. Would that price your property out of the local market, so it becomes impossible to recoup the money that you spend? If so, you may be better off moving to a larger house, if that’s what you need.
A half decent kitchen will cost half of your £30k budget!
You are not going to get much building work done for the other £15k!!0 -
11 years ago, and in the midlands I had a full width single story extension on the back of my 1930's semi built for £30k. its 6 meters wide by 2.9 meters deep.
This included 2 rooms, kitchen and conservatory type room (walls either side and polycarb roof)
The kitchen was the cheapest kitchen we could find, basic plain white white cupboards, cheap worktop and cheap appliances. This was to get the cost to the £30k mark.
We've since replaced the roof on the conservatory with a proper one, and upgraded the kitchen significantly. But this was 10 years later0 -
Hmm, why not get a few quotes from local builders to get a realistic idea? They can vary wildly in price.leftism said:Thanks guys. What do you reckon I'd need to get to to get in the ball park for a single storey rear extension with new kitchen? I know a lot depends on size, but the size might depend on what we can afford. It's a pretty standard 1930s semi in the north west.0
