Fund Swop within Fidelity

Has anyone experience please of  the length of time it normally  takes to transfer/switch  from one  Fidelity isa fund I hold on their platform , to  an alternative Fidelity one I want  to hold instead ? (still on Fid platform)   Not sure if  its all done at the same  next  valuation point  after  instruction or  not . Haven't  been able to check with  them  directly  yet.

Comments

  • The pricing should take place same day, and the switch the normal T+3 or whatever I think.

It's just a sell and buy transaction and until the sell has been priced at the next valuation point then Fidelity won't know the value to be able to submit the buy transaction on the new fund. Sometimes if you invest directly with the fund manager they can do a switch at the same valuation point. I have never tried switching between Fidelity funds via Personal Investing but in my old workplace pension they were able to do it without time out of the market.

I am literally in the middle of one now!!

We gave the switch instruction yesterday at 9am, and the "sell" part of the transaction is today showing as "priced" at yesterdays closed price (which was actually up, so I hope we've got the new price, but then the new fund will be up too - we're just moving class within the same fund).

Obviously nothing will happen over the weekend, but as I understand it, they should "price" the "buy" on Monday (next dealing point), but they don't completely finalise the deal for a few days after that.

Last time we did this, we instructed on the 18th of the month, and it was showing fully complete on 23rd.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Depending on the fund, it will be T+2 or T+3 for settlement and those are working days.
