Getting a fit note

More advice please. I've started a UC claim but it's impossible to get through to the GP surgery, understandably with the circumstances and tier 3, to request any kind of appointment re a fit note. The surgery phone is engaged from 8 till closing. Visiting the surgery is discouraged but it's miles away, I don't drive and live in a rural area with no transport . Do the UC assessors make allowances under the current predicament that getting this is very difficult? OP mentioned to me a UC50 - is it a separate document from the UC form so do I find one and print it giving all my details and the GP's, or, unless my understanding is wrong, do UC issue this to me and invite completion?

You will need a Fit Note. I don’t know whether DWP will cut yu any slack if you do not get this within 7 days.
The UC50 will be sent to you in due course by DWP if you have evidenced a health condition with a Fit Note.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
They will have an email address I’d imagine to send a message.0

Thank you for your replies. My GP practice offers no facility to contact them, not by email or via Patient Access app, or on their website. Strictly phone only. They will not book a telephone consultation if you physically ask at the surgery - which my neighbour did - she was told to just try to get through on the phone. Must be regional as to what practices will offer patients.0

All practices have email addresses. They can be accessed online.KarenB021 said:Thank you for your replies. Try starting to dial a minute before the lines open in the morning. That way you have a chance of being first in line.
Do you have ring back on your phone? That calls you back when the line is free.1 -
Afternoon all
