Checkatrade review

I had a CCTV system installed September last year. Since then I had a problem with one of the cameras and contacted the installer, as it was still within 1 year. They initially said they would come and look at the camera, however then stopped replying to emails. I have since found out I am unable to setup the system on another device, as there is a password which I understand the installer has.
unhappy with the service, I contacted checkatrade to post a review, and will get legal advice, which I told checkatrade regarding this service. I also believe the system installed was an old system (not that I’m saying this is the primary reason for my review). Any advice apart from the legal advice I will get would be helpful. I don’t want other people to have a similar experience.

What does your contract say about their obligations in year one? And beyond that?0

Did you ask for a bleeding edge system or pay the higher price for latest tech? If they said they’d suggest an RX32 system for £3,000 and you said thats great and paid them, got it in and then its a bit late to now say you’d have preferred the newer RZ211.Locornwall said:

Not handing over admin codes is an old trick and many companies do it. Again there is a certain element of what did you ask for -v- what have you gotten... clearly they recommended the system based on your age complaint.
Have you contacted the manufacturer re the code? Some manufactures dont like fitters doing this sort of thing so will help you out whereas others have put the code there for the very reason of helping their fitters to create lock in and make their systems popular as it provides ongoing revenue for them for amendments etc.1 -
I can’t find any terms and conditions either sent to me or in their website. I tried setting it up on my girlfriends phone, when I went to setup the cameras part it required a password, which I don’t have. As I mentioned on the thread they stopped replying to emails therefore where do I go with this type of company.
Here is the company in question:

I’m not happy with either, of course with the trader but also checkatrade seem to be obstructing me writing an honest review. But primarily I’m not happy with the merchant.0

Checkatrade have Guaranteed T & C at the bottom of their home page. I cannot post the link as new to these forums.
I found the link today.
I tried completing and whichever way I answer the questions the automated response is that I am not eligible to claim under their guarantee scheme.0 -
This is an old thread, best just to stick with your own rather then search around and resurrect old threads concerning Checkatrade.Paryn said:Checkatrade have Guaranteed T & C at the bottom of their home page. I cannot post the link as new to these forums.

I think the guarantee is for traders who have signed up ( paid) not for consumers.Paryn said:Checkatrade have Guaranteed T & C at the bottom of their home page. I cannot post the link as new to these forums.
