Temporary Moving Computer what USB wifi Adapter?

My desktop computer is in an upstairs spare bedroom and connected to my Virgin Hub, which is in the same bedroom, by ethernet cable but I am going to have to move the computer downstairs into a spare corner in the lounge.
This will only be for 2 weeks so there is not really all that much point on buying an expensive powerline ethernet adapter so what inexpensive USB adapter would you buy.
a 2.4ghz or 5ghz one?

Guess the only problem with Ebay is postage. Royal mail is stuffed where we are. Amazon Prime may get an adapter to you a bit quicker.
PS. hope the distance from spare corner in the lounge to Virgin Hub isn't too far.0 -
I've used the cheapest of the cheap off Amazon or eBay with no issues
Normally "plug and play" these days , plug it in the pc and then enter the wireless codeEx forum ambassador

Does your desktop computer not have a wifi card?
Many newer models do. Older models may not have one.
Have a look in Settings if you don't know.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
Try and get something decent. A rubbish adapter is liable to give you a bad connection. I took a PC from 5 to 200 megabit speed by replacing a bad USB wifi adapter with a good quality PCIe one. (And the USB one was a major brand, not a no-name cheapie!).There are exceptions, but most of the good ones have a decent sized adjustable antenna. The ones that are only about an inch long or less just don't have the space inside for the antenna needed for a good signal. If it was me I might give the TP-Link T2U Plus a try, quite cheap and IGN rated it well.

I use a USB adapter on my PC which is in my basement office. It's a TP unit, an "inch long", without any antennae, and it works perfectly.

It's cheaper here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Archer-T2U-Plus-Windows10-10-9-10-14/dp/B07PJV66CN/ref=psdc_430581031_t1_B07P681N66A_Lert said:Try and get something decent.
